Alex Seier is the eldest of four boys. Raised in a stone farmhouse in rural Pennsylvania his first job was picking potatoes at a nearby farm for $3.50 an hour. His father worked two jobs in order to support his wife and family and pushed his boys to do well in school. In turn, Alex was the first in his family to go to college. Being a pretty shy kid, it wasn’t until he got to college that Alex became interested in playing music. He found an acoustic guitar his mother stowed away in their farmhouse attic twenty years earlier and spent every minute outside of class teaching himself how to play. He became lost in the beauty of lyrics and melodies and the stories they told so he began writing songs and playing at the local VFWs, town festivals and county fairs. Soon thereafter he started a band, began selling out small venues, winning talent competitions, and opening for the major acts that passed through town.

Perhaps it was the countless tire changes from the gritty, unpaved roads traveling to his band’s nightly gigs that toughened up the once shy Alex, but it was more likely the music industry’s rocky road that chipped away his insecurities. Eventually, he secured a deal with Lava Atlantic Records. Fortune’s fate got him when the label dissolved and so did his record deal. No stranger to adversity, Alex’s steadfast perseverance found him national and international opportunities touring with Jessie James Decker, Hillary Duff, Secondhand Serenade, and many others. As well as performing on shows like The Today Show, Jimmy Kimmel, MTV, and Ellen, he also secured song placements for TV and movies.

After many years of odd jobs, a dozen or so cross country trips and several moves Alex landed in Jacksonville, FL. One afternoon he received a phone call from Leslie Satcher. With a laundry list of accomplishments, her credentials both impressed and intimidated Alex. After his first write with Leslie, Alex was blown away. Her talent and humility were equally balanced by her warmth and strength. It was Leslie’s influence and advice that gave Alex the confidence to move to Nashville.

Shortly after establishing roots, he quickly understood why Nashville earned the moniker, “Music City.” The breadth and depth of true talent, both raw and refined, was apparent and invigorating. Since his move, Alex has been blessed to engage with some of Music City’s most prominent writers, established artists, and eager newcomers.

Sheer tenacity coupled with an intrinsic drive to live music, Alex works every day refining his skills and seeking those who will help him grow and where he can help those grow. For the farm boy who once dug up potatoes and taught himself how to play guitar, Alex knows he lives the American Dream everyday. His music is about paying it forward.
